Injury risks prompt recall of dive computers

Posted on February 12, 2016 2:49 pm under Product Liability

Approximately 1,500 units of the UWATEC Galileo Luna and Sol dive computers were recalled by Scubapro on February 2, according to a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Apparently, the dive computer’s screen may freeze or display the wrong information when the device short circuits, which could lead to serious injuries, such as decompression sickness, to the diver. The company has already been notified of three incidents of the dive computer’s screen freezing, although no critical injuries were reported.

The recalled products beard the following information:

  • Galileo Luna – serial numbers 150422 0058 001 to 150903 0338 005
  • Galileo Sol – serial numbers 150423 0202 001 to 150921 0001 005

Scubapro advised consumers not to use the dangerously defective product and to contact them right away for a free replacement.
