FDA investigates illnesses after Raw Meal recall

On January 29, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Garden of Life has voluntarily recalled limited quantities of its Raw Meal Organic Shake and meal products due to possible contamination of Salmonella. The affected products are:  Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Chocolate, Original, Vanilla, and Vanilla Chai. The FDA is now conducting investigations into possible illnesses associated with this product.

Salmonella is a bacterium that could cause severe illnesses, such as infected aneurysms, arthritis, and endocarditis. Salmonella infection may show symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting, according to the FDA.
