Dining chairs recalled over fall risks

Posted on March 2, 2016 8:10 pm under Product Liability

According to a recall notice by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Pier 1 Imports U.S. Inc. has recalled its Capella Island swivel dining chairs. According to the recall notice, the base of the dining chair has the tendency to fracture and break, which could lead to fall and injury hazards to users.

Three reports of the chair breaking, with two reports of consumers falling, have already been reported to the company, although no injuries have been reported or confirmed. About 800 units of the defective chairs were involved in the product recall. The chair has a natural wood color with a measurement of 26 inches wide by 26 inches deep by 39 inches high, according to the notice.

Consumers are advised by the company to immediately stop using the product and Pier 1 will provide full refund or merchandise credit for returned products.

Sadly, dangerous products make it into the hands of unsuspecting consumers far too often. If you or someone you love has been injured by a dangerous or defective consumer good, contact the product liability lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® today at (414) 271-0900.
