According to a February 16th report by Fox 8, an eighth-grade girl was recently taken to the hospital after she was injured by a broken floorboard while playing in a basketball tournament in Middleton, Wisconsin.

According to reports, the girl, who was only identified as a 14-year-old, fell on the floor during the game and could not pull herself up. The girl reportedly was struck by a piece of wood from a “splintered floorboard.” Game organizer Perry Hibner stated that the piece of wood was several inches long.

The girl’s mother, who happened to be a coach, went to her daughter while waiting for responding medical crews. The part of the basketball court where the girl was injured was momentarily blocked off with garbage bins while waiting for necessary repairs.
