Minneapolis-based company Room & Board issued a recall of about 1,500 chairs sold nationwide after receiving complaints of injury risks, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on March 11.
According to the recall notice, the backrest of two “Doyle” model chairs could suddenly break during normal use. The recall affects the side chairs and arm chairs that come in cherry, charcoal, shell, walnut, and maple finishes. Room & Board issued the recall after one of the 10 complaints of a chair’s backrest breaking resulted in minor injuries.
Consumers can check if their chairs are part of this recall by looking for “Room & Board-Handcrafted in Vermont” engraved next to a barcode found under the chair frame. Consumers can visit the company’s website for the complete list of affected chairs. Room & Board plans to address the issue by offering consumers either a product replacement or a complete refund.
