Racine authorities recently cited a female driver for operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI) after she was involved in a single vehicle accident in which a house sustained substantial damage, an April 18th article of The Journal Times reported.

Reports said that 48-year-old Michelle Kirkhoff was cited on April 16 for her first OWI after she crashed into a house at 3401-03 Victory Avenue. Aside from police, Racine fire crews also responded to the accident scene because the duplex caught fire.

Kirkhoff’s vehicle went through the house’s facade after she lost control. A tow truck was later used to pull Kirkhoff’s vehicle out of the house. Authorities later revealed that the estimated structural damage caused by the accident and subsequent fire was $50,000. Kirkhoff and a passenger in her vehicle both sustained minor injuries in the incident.
