Janesville authorities recently arrested a male motorist on the suspicion that he was operating his vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), an April 20 report on wifr.com stated.
Information coming from police said that at about 3:15 p.m., 51-year-old Gavin McCarten was involved in an incident in a parking lot in the 200 block of East Memorial where he nearly struck a police vehicle while driving his vehicle backwards.
Upon questioning, authorities noted the smell of alcohol coming from McCarten and they saw a consumed bottle of beer inside his vehicle. McCarten reportedly confirmed that he consumed the alcoholic beverage and he refused a sobriety test. Reports later revealed that McCarten had three previous OWIs before this arrest. Other related charges were also filed against McCarten.
