Police investigators said that alcohol was a factor in a car accident that happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, along Highway LO at Highway I in the Town of Mukwonago. The wreck occurred when a car crashed into a tree, resulting in two individuals getting hurt.

A 26-year-old Elkhorn man suffered critical injuries after the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle he was in, who was also from Elkhorn, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The driver, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital while his passenger was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee.

The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office will evaluate the charges that the driver will be facing, which include a felony charge of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, unreasonable and imprudent speed, and failure to control a vehicle.
