A man in Sheboygan was recently hospitalized for third-degree burn injuries after the vehicle he was driving suddenly caught fire.

Crews from Sheboygan Fire Department responded at 7:31 a.m. near Ontario Avenue and North 5th Street when they were notified of a vehicle fire. Responding crews noticed that there was a man inside the driver’s seat of the burning van. The man, whose name was withheld, was believed to have lost control of his vehicle because of a medical issue, but was safely removed from his burning vehicle. Initial investigations revealed the vehicle caught fire after its gas tank leaked and gasoline reached the tires.
