A driver who crashed into a home in Racine last month while driving drunk is facing criminal charges. The 48-year-old driver, Michelle Kirchoff, is facing one first-degree recklessly endangering safety charge and one causing injury and operating while intoxicated charge.
Kirchoff struck a house near Connolly Avenue and Victory Avenue, which sustained significant damages after it caught fire. Police stated in a complaint that Kirchoff and a male passenger in her vehicle were slurring their words and were apparently intoxicated. Kirchoff’s passenger complained of a knee injury after the incident. Though Kirchoff explained that the accident happened after she failed to navigate a curb, a witness told police that she was driving recklessly and was speeding before she struck the home.
