The Cortez, Colorado-based company Osprey Child Safety Products has recalled approximately 31,000 units of child backpack carriers that may have defective buckles on the shoulder straps.
The recall covers at least three child backpack carrier models that were sold nationwide since last January. One of the buckles on the carrier may cause the shoulder strap to release, which poses a fall hazard to the child. Osprey and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have identified the production date codes of the affected products and consumers are advised to fully inspect both shoulder strap buckles for problems.. There were no incidents of children who have been injured by the recalled carriers. Osprey is offering a free buckle replacement for carriers that have defective buckles.
