A woman in Racine County, who was attempting to retrieve her missing dog, was recently killed after she was struck by a semi-truck.

Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling revealed that just after 3:00 a.m. on May 30, Amy Krenzke, 43, was struck by the truck on the 15800 block of Durand Avenue. Krenzke, who was the mother of a recent high school graduate, reportedly chased her dog, Jax, into the street where the accident took place. The victim was later pronounced dead while being treated at All Saints Hospital in Racine. Traffic flow in both lanes along 59th Drive and 56th Road were momentarily blocked as responding authorities investigated the crash scene. The truck driver, whose name was withheld, cooperated with investigating authorities. Krenzke’s dog did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
