Pedestrian fatally struck at Howell and Lincoln

Posted on July 1, 2016 10:54 am under Pedestrian Accident

On June 29, at 11:35 a.m., an 83-year-old Milwaukee woman was crossing the intersection of S. Howell Avenue and E. Lincoln Avenue on her way back to her apartment when she was struck by a Dodge Ram truck.
According to CBS 58, authorities pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old Milwaukee man, stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. The woman’s friends claim the intersection is dangerous for pedestrians because the walk light changes too quickly. Alderman Tony Zielinksi disagreed, saying, “She had the right of way as shown by walk signal so I don’t know how anybody could even think it’s the walk signal’s fault. This is a driver that didn’t follow the rules of the road here and unfortunately hit this lady.” The woman killed today has no family in the United States, as she came to America from Germany several decades ago.
