Semi-truck crashes into law enforcement officer on Highway 19

Truck Accident

On Monday, June 27 at 1:42 p.m., a semi-truck struck the vehicle of law enforcement officer Anthony Rotunno on Highway 19 in Westport.

Rotunno was driving a 2010 Ford Explorer eastbound on Highway 19 when he stopped to make a left turn into the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center. While stopped, the semi-truck rear-ended him, pushing his vehicle across the opposite lane of traffic and into the ditch. Rotunno was extricated from his vehicle and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, Mark Krenz, 55, sustained minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital. Krenz was cited for inattentive driving and failing to wear a seatbelt. Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, the Waunakee Police Department, and DeForest Fire and EMS all responded to the crash.
