One woman died after driving her car around “road out” barricades that had been erected to prevent drivers from traveling over a washed-out area of the highway.
An official for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation called 911 the morning of Monday, July 18, to get help for the woman who fell about 50 feet to the bottom of the washout. The woman had to be removed from her car and brought to the surface using ropes, according to the Bayfield County sheriff authorities. She was taken to a hospital by air where she died.
If a state doesn’t provide adequate signs to warn drivers about road defects, the effects can be tragic. The thoughts of the attorneys with Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® go out to the victim and her loved ones.
