Town of Oregon fatal hit-and-run suspect charged

Wrongful Death

The person suspected of causing a fatal hit-and-run accident in the Town of Oregon was initially charged after being arrested by Dane County authorities, an August 5 article of wkow.com reported.

A hit and run causing death charge was filed against 35-year-old Kevin Meister after authorities located him and his vehicle with the help of tips called in by citizens in the community. Authorities claimed that Meister fled after striking and killing a bicyclist at the Hillcrest Lane and Lincoln Road intersection. The bike rider, 33, whose name was withheld, was riding in the west lane of Lincoln when Meister struck him. Captain Jeff Teuscher said the case is still under investigation, but if Meister is found guilty, a 25-year prison sentence and up to $100,000 in fines may await him.
