On Monday afternoon, August 22, a second roller coaster at Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark became stuck, both incidents occurring within a week.
Every one of the nearly 30 riders was escorted off the ride safely as a precautionary function of the coaster did remain unaffected, stopping at a point that allowed for safe and quick evacuation. The affected ride was the Sidewinder, an “aggressive thrill ride,” according to the park’s own website.
The malfunction remains under investigation and for the time being, the ride is closed. The other affected ride was the Fahrenheit roller coaster, which became stuck for about six minutes the Friday before.
