Fond du Lac Firefighters were called about smoking coming from a home in the late afternoon on Friday, August 26.
The home was unoccupied when the responders arrived, but the entire building was engulfed in fire. The blaze was contained, but not before causing damage to the building and other property. Red Cross assisted with rehab for the firefighters and relocation for the residents. The local Humane Society took care of two deceased animals: one dog and one cat. Another kitten was found alive and no people suffered injuries.
In the afternoon the next day, Saturday, August 27, the Fond du Lac fire station was called out for another house fire. Damage was done to the building and other property and two people were hurt in the fire.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
