Driver in McFarland crash accused of 2nd OWI

A driver and his passengers were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night, September 4 near McFarland.

The rollover crash happened before midnight on Highway 51 near Tower Road in the Dunn town, according to Dane County Sheriff’s Office and responders were deputies, McFarland Fire, EMS and Med Flight.

Samuel Alire, 24, from Monona, was the driver, headed north on Highway 51 when he lost control and the vehicle rolled into a ditch, where it came to a rest on its wheels. Alire and one of his passengers were trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extracted by firefighters while a second passenger was able to escape on his own.

Alire and both passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries and Alire was later arrested for driving while intoxicated, which resulted in injury.
