School bus vs. car collision occurred in Belvidere

Car Accidents

A collision between a school bus and a car occurred late Wednesday afternoon, September 7 in Boone County north of Belvidere.

Firefighters and EMTs responded to the accident that happened near the intersection of Beloit Road and Orth Road. Boone County firemen on the scene have confirmed the bus had turned over on its side after pushing the car off the road. The bus was transporting middle school students to their home from the Belvidere School District. Several students on the bus were hurt and transported to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

The Belvidere School District is involved in the investigation in correspondence with the local authorities and First Student, the district’s transportation service. First Student released the employee history of the bus operator and found that for the two years of service, the driver’s record was clean.

You rightfully trust that your child will be safe if they use school-provided transportation and it can be devastating to deal with hospital bills for a child.
