United Exchange Corp. Recalls Rugby® and Major®-branded Eye Wash

Posted on September 24, 2016 5:11 pm under Defective medical products

On September 6, 2016, United Exchange Corp. of Cerritos, CA, a primary vendor of the Rugby®-branded Eye Irrigating Solution and Major®-branded Eye Wash, conducted a recall of several lots of those products due to microbial contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has full knowledge of the recall.

Product details: Rugby Eye Irrigating Solution (NDC 0536-1083-97) and Major Eye Wash (NDC 0904-6491-20) are both usually used to flush the eye of irritants, specifically air pollutants or chlorinated water, in an effort to stop stinging or itching. The bottles contain 4 ounces (118mL) and would’ve been sold across the nation.

Risk: The contaminated product introduces a reasonable risk of sight-threatening infection.

Remedy: Anyone with access to the affected product should stop any consumption immediately and contact Rugby’s Customer Support with any questions.

It is not unreasonable to assume that health products will help your situation and it’s particularly frustrating when they do the exact opposite.
