A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred early on Saturday morning, October 8, on the Beltline.
Emergency crews comprised of the Madison Town police and Dane County sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene just about 15 minutes before 2 a.m. near Todd Drive on the eastbound side of Beltline.
The 40-year-old driver of the car, later identified as Timoteo Lopez-Bacilio, was found dead on the scene and the driver of the semi tractor-trailer he had hit was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Witnesses say that Lopez-Bacilio had hit the trailer head-on after traveling for a while on the wrong side of the road.
The area was shut down for a solid four hours while investigators tried to figure out the chain of events.
