A woman was cited in Dellona on Monday night, October 9, for causing a one-vehicle accident due to reckless speeds and intoxication.
Sauk County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the crash occurred on CTH H at Lyndon Road and responding crews from the Sheriff’s office, the Delton Fire Department, and Dells-Delton EMS arrived on the scene about 7:30 p.m.
The victim, 28-year-old Trista Lee Youngthunder from Sauk City, had been headed west and continued straight through a curve. The vehicle left the road and struck a divider, causing it to roll and trap Youngthunder. Emergency crews were forced to use JAWS of Life to retrieve the woman and she was taken to two different hospitals—first, the Reedsburg Hospital and then the UW Hospital.
Following her discharge from the hospital, Youngthunder was charged with OWI as well as having open alcohol containers in her car. It was clear to investigators that both alcohol and speed were contributing factors to the accident, but the nuances are still being uncovered.
Some of the deadliest crashes are caused by the intoxication of one involved driver and when speed is added to that, truly traumatic things can happen.
