One person was left homeless when an apartment fire began in their unit on Tuesday, October 11 in Sun Prairie.
Emergency crews responded to the fire around 4 p.m. and noted that smoke was coming out of a unit on the first floor. An off-duty member of the same crew helped a resident who was unable to leave the complex on their own while smoke alarms alerted the rest of the building to the fire.
No one faced injuries from the fire and the displaced resident was assisted by the American Red Cross. All fire damage was in the kitchen, but the rest of that unit did suffer from smoke damage. Once the building was adequately ventilated, people were allowed back into their homes.
