Milwaukee personal injury attorney Benjamin Wagner of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® was interviewed by Fox6 News in relation to the recent allegations of sexual abuse filed against a former Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department captain, previously discussed here.

Clarence Mielke, 73, is facing four charges of sexual assault for his conduct while working at the assisted living facility owned by his wife. New information shows that the victim was a 50-year-old resident of Carey Manor who suffers from Huntington’s disease. Other staff at the facility have been concerned about Mielke’s behavior since as early as 2014, but the facility’s administrator, his wife Carey, did not look into their concerns for fear of losing her license to operate such a facility.

Now, after two employees went to the police, the facility has been shut down and fined $10,000.

In the interview, attorney Wagner outlined the numerous signs of abuse that can come up in these sorts of facilities. These include:

  • Dehydration
  • Bruising
  • Inability to walk
  • Rapid deterioration in overall health

Wagner is an experienced nursing home abuse attorney and has seen from experience how residents who live under these abusive conditions fear retribution should they file any manner of complaint.
