A 55-year-old man was found unconscious on West Keefe Avenue, Monday morning.
Local authorities were dispatched at the 2300 block of West Keefe Avenue after receiving a report of a man down outside his property. According to the report, the victim was reportedly shoveling snow at around 5:00 a.m. when, for yet unknown reasons, he collapsed. He was rushed to Froedtert Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Milwaukee police arrived at the scene to determine the cause of death. How the incident actually took place remains unclear but it was confirmed that foul play has been ruled out in the man’s death.
Deaths related to snow shoveling take place every year. According to an article by CBS 58, at least five snow related injuries and deaths were documented last year. To prevent these kinds of incidents, it’s important to respect how strenuous of an activity snow removal is. Be aware of the symptoms of exhaustion and take a break if you need to.
