More than a thousand of stainless steel slides were recalled by Playworld because of safety hazards.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall includes 1,300 Lightning Slides, stainless steel slides which were sold to parks, schools, and municipalities. The CPSC says that the slide bedway and sidewall in the recalled items are not properly joined together, and has a possibility to separate. This separation creates a gap where a child’s finger can get caught. There have been at least two reports of children losing fingers this way.
Schools and parks with playground slides bought from Playworld will receive a temporary barrier to place around the slide to prevent kids from playing on it. Playworld urges consumers to stop using the slides until a free replacement has been installed. Worried consumers may call at their hotline at (800) 233-8404 for more information about the issue.
