The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Pork Rinds & Snacks, LLC is conducting a voluntary recall of more than 7,629 pounds of pork skin products due to health hazards.
The recall was initiated after Pork Rinds & Snacks, LLC’s seasoning supplier, Valley Milk Products, notified them for possible salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism than can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever.
The products subject to the recall include all ready-to-eat pork skin products that were produced between September 27, 2016 and December 13, 2016. The items, which were labeled with the establishment number “EST. M00888” located inside the USDA mark of inspection, were distributed to various retail stores nationwide.
To date, no injuries or illnesses related to the issue have been reported to the company. Consumers are urged to discontinue the consumption of the affected products and dispose them immediately. Valley Milk Products supplies its ingredients to numerous companies. This recall also made an impact here.
