Man charged for sexually assaulting a woman

Sexual Assault

A criminal complaint has been filed against a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a Stanley home.

According to the complaint, the suspect forced the 29-year-old female who filed the complaint to have sexual intercourse with him at a home in the 300 block of Washington Street last October 29. A similar incident took place December 30, when the victim woke up with the suspect next to her in bed and forced her to perform sexual acts with him.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Scott W. Kane, is charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault. Each charge carries a maximum of 25 years in prison. The Chippewa County Court will give him a maximum $100,000 fine per charge, if convicted. Kane was previously convicted in 2011 for criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer.
