GENERAL SUMMARY

The Spanish speaking Legal and Marketing Assistant provides written and oral translation on behalf of the Firm’s legal and marketing efforts. This position is also responsible for pre-suit file management and litigation in general liability and product liability personal injury claims.  

 

JOB DUTIES

Assist with Spanish Speaking intakes from the website and incoming phone calls:

  • Follow up with intakes
  • Work with attorney on necessary translation throughout duration of the case

Document Management:

  • Order certified medical records/bills
  • Update medical records/bills
  • Order employment, wage loss/tax returns, etc.
  • Obtain information on subrogation, liens and unpaid medical expenses

Claim Preparation:

  • Interview client regarding treating providers, employers and maintain communication          throughout litigation
  • Review medical and other records and create chronology of treatment and case related issues
  • Review liens against medical specials
  • Subrogation lien holder communication
  • Draft demand letter

Litigation Support:

  • Communication with clients, defense attorneys/staff, doctors, experts
  • Preparation and file organization of case research, notes, legal documents, etc.
  • Scheduling/calendaring with experts and defense counsel
  • Document organization
  • Document and deposition summary
  • Draft answers to or compose discovery
  • Draft pleadings
  • Draft mediation submission
  • Monitor scheduling order deadlines
  • Schedule trial prep and team meetings
  • Assist with trial preparation
  • Attend IME’s and other interviews/meetings
  • Attend trial, if necessary

Marketing Support:

  • Communicate with Sponsors in English/Spanish: La Movida, Centro Hispano, La Comunidad News, Millennium Soccer Club
  • Assist and participate in community events/marketing events
  • Assist with creating Spanish content for advertising
  • Attend and prepare for monthly meetings for outreach and updates
  • Schedule phone conferences and/or in person meetings with sponsors, marketing manager and lead attorney
  • Schedule attorney on site at Centro Hispano every last Wednesday of the month and attend to assist with translation
  • Assist in scheduling Attorney for participation on La Movida’s  El Debate and attend to assist with translation

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, both oral and written
  • Ability to translate from English to Spanish and vice versa
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize electronic resources
  • Knowledge of managing large files
  • Availability for overnight travel (local and out-of-state)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree beyond high school preferred
  • Experience working in a law office, specifically personal injury is preferred
  • Medical terminology and medical record review experience is helpful
