Elissa M. Bowlin is a shareholder at Habush Habush & Rottier’s Milwaukee office, where she has practiced since 2018. Her practice focuses on complex product liability and personal injury litigation. Elissa has represented individuals and families in cases involving serious injuries and has played a key role in significant trial and appellate matters.
Elissa has been part of trial teams responsible for two eight-figure Wisconsin verdicts. In 2019, she was part of the Habush trial team that obtained a $14.49 million verdict in Barsuli v. Virtual Radiologic Corporation, a medical malpractice case involving the failure to timely diagnose an epidural abscess. Six months later, she assisted in obtaining a $38.1 million verdict against Hyundai Motor Company in an enhanced-injury product liability case.
During her career, Elissa has received many honors for her work in personal injury. She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® since 2024 in Appellate Practice, Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, and Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs. Elissa has been selected to Super Lawyers® every year since 2020. Elissa has also contributed to legal education and scholarship. Her article, “Moving Forward: Asbestos Litigation,” was published in the Wisconsin Civil Trial Journal, and she has written for Habush on topics including traumatic brain injuries and personal injury law.
Before becoming an attorney, Elissa earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University in 2001 and obtained her registered nurse license that same year. She earned her law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2004, where she served as a staff writer for the law review. Her background in nursing and law gives her experience in both the medical and legal aspects of serious injury litigation.
Outside of her legal practice, Elissa is active in the Milwaukee community. She serves on the Greater Milwaukee Advisory Board of Bernie’s Book Bank and coaches the Catholic Memorial High School mock trial team.
A native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Elissa lives there with her husband and four children.
