Steven T. Botzau is Vice President of Habush Habush & Rottier and practices in both the firm’s Racine and Kenosha offices. A Racine native and lifelong resident, Steve has practiced law with Habush Habush & Rottier since 1991. He has completed more than 100 civil jury trials and was certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1997.
Steve has been recognized as a Super Lawyer® since 2005, including recognition among the Top 50 attorneys in Wisconsin since 2011 and the Top 25 attorneys in the Milwaukee area in multiple years. He was named a 2014 Leader in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal. Steve has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs since 2016, including the 2027 edition.
Steve is a member of the Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth County Bar Associations, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served as president of the Racine County Bar Association from 2003 to 2004.
Steve has remained deeply connected to the Racine community throughout his career. A 1979 graduate of William Horlick High School, he was selected as a Horlick High “Graduate of Distinction” in 2009. He has served on the Board of Directors of Racine Youth Sports for more than 25 years and currently serves as its Vice President. In 2025, Steve received the Deep Roots Award from the Racine County Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his longstanding volunteer work and contributions to youth athletics in Racine County.
Steve earned his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 1984 and his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 1988, where he was a member of the Marquette Law Review.
Steve is a former teacher and lives in Racine with his wife, Sue. They have three children and six grandchildren.
