De 1999 a 2014, la Fundación Benéfica Habush Habush & Rottier donó y distribuyó más de 110,600 cascos de bicicleta a niños en nuestras comunidades. Las salas de emergencia en todo el país atienden a más de 700 niños que necesitan tratamiento por lesiones recibidas mientras andan en bicicleta, patinetas y scooters. Muchas de estas lesiones son potencialmente mortales e incapacitantes. Usar cascos y otro equipo de protección y seguir las reglas de la carretera puede ayudar a prevenir lesiones. Los cascos de bicicleta ajustados adecuadamente pueden reducir el riesgo de lesiones cerebrales relacionadas con la bicicleta. Sin embargo, solo el 25 por ciento de los ciclistas de 14 años o menos usan casco. Este programa ayudó a enseñar a los niños la importancia de mantenerse a salvo usando cascos.

Bring the whole family out, or encourage the office to get out and support the Humane Society of Marathon County! Choose to participate in-person (practicing social distancing) or virtually by run/walking your own local 5k route prior to race day. The in-person option provides chip-timing for participants that cross the starting line between 8:30 - 9:00am. Virtual participants that would like to compete for a medal, will be asked to upload their time & route verification by Friday evening June 3rd 11:59pm. Awards will be available at the event to in-person participants on race day and mailed the week of June 6th to virtual participants. As always, bring your favorite four legged friend out with you!

The Trailmates snowmobile club has graciously agreed to host a hot air balloon rally at their grass drags on the west side of Wausau! Year number two promises more fun and a unique opportunity to spend time with friends and family. The weekend will again emphasize the “Taste of Marathon County” featuring local restaurants, food trucks, nonprofits, and more.
Many things to look forward to: kids activities, log rollers, craft and flea market, bands, dirt flingers, BALLOONS and more. Please save the date for this fun family weekend.
