Madison, Wis. – On June 28, 2018, Christopher E. Rogers was sworn in as the 63rd President of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

The State Bar of Wisconsin is a mandatory professional association, created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, for all attorneys who hold a Wisconsin law license. With more than 25,000 members, the State Bar aids the courts in improving the administration of justice, provides continuing legal education and other services for its members, supports the education of law students, and educates the public about the legal system. The State Bar of Wisconsin also provides public services, including attorney referrals, public education and reduced-fee legal assistance for low-income state residents.

During his acceptance speech at his swearing in ceremony at the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Annual Conference Rogers said he, “ultimately accepted the nomination to run for President of the State Bar of Wisconsin because I was committed to being an advocate for the lawyers of this great profession, for the clients who we serve and to fight to preserve access to justice for the citizens of this State. That is exactly what I intend to do.”

He received support and high praise from many attorneys across the state, including Attorney Daniel Rottier who works with Rogers at Habush Habush and Rottier S.C.® . Rottier echoed Chris’ sentiment of being an advocate.

“He will be an advocate not only for lawyers in the state but he will be an advocate for the people of Wisconsin who are served by all of us as lawyers and he will listen to people and treat people respectfully and I think at the end will make good decisions for all of us.”

When speaking on what Rogers’ vision for the year ahead might be, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Patience Roggensack said, “whatever it is, the court has had a very good relationship with the State Bar. It is a relationship I personally treasure and I look forward to benefitting from Chris’ leadership over this next year.”

Rogers started with Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® at their Lake Geneva office in 1999. He is a partner with the firm and works out of their Madison office handling cases involving injuries from product defects, automobile accidents, and general negligence. He has received many awards including the State Bar’s President’s Award for outstanding service to the Bar and the profession in 2016. He is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation. Additionally, in 2017, Rogers was inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honor that recognizes a lawyer whose career has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and is limited to one percent of all lawyers in the United States.

Rogers lives in Waunakee with his wife Corina, their three children and their dog, Charley.
