COMPONENTS OF SMOKE
Smoke is a combination of heated particles and gases, which typically does not include much oxygen since this is consumed by the fire. Smoke can also contain toxic particles or gases, depending on the object that is burned. For instance, if asbestos-containing insulation burns, it can release carcinogenic asbestos fibers into the air.
SYMPTOMS OF SMOKE INHALATION
When you are exposed to smoke, the hot gas can burn your throat and lungs and inflame other tissues as well. This can result in several painful symptoms, such as:
- Chronic cough
- Shortness of breath
- Loud breathing
- Reddened eyes
If you have suffered from smoke inhalation due to an improperly constructed or monitored building, you should talk to an attorney immediately.
